Good Wellness Wednesday Bloomers! | March 25, 2026
As we come to the end of March, in celebration of National Women’s Month…well, aren’t all months meant to celebrate women! (wink), I found myself standing at my writing desk this morning, drawn to something that felt both simple, and deeply meaningful.
I gazed over to a collection of hats… Not just any hats, but ones that belonged to my grandmother.
They were just recently passed to me through my mother.
And as I stood there, holding them, I wasn’t just seeing fabric and form… I was seeing time. I was seeing lineage. I was seeing the quiet, powerful evolution of the women who came before me, in a way that had not struck me before.
I remember my grandmother wearing these hats, so eloquent and composed, and ready to be seen in her social circle of the day; Church, Parties, Volunteering.
They were Rooted in a time where women carried so much, often silently,
often without recognition…often within roles that were defined for them.
And yet… they held it all. With grace.
With strength.
With resilience that didn’t always have language…but lived deeply in their being.
And as I tried these hats on, one at a time,
it was as if I was downloading the essence of my grandmothers! Some of them are mink, from a time when wearing such fur was stylish
and the height of fashion, along with beautiful vintage faux and felt fedoras.
Each one a quiet reminder that how we present ourselves on the outside
so often reflects how we are seen, even when it doesn’t fully reveal how we feel within.
Because most of us know, being a woman in that generation, especially on the inside, was not an easy role… or should I say, not an easy hat to wear.
Our grandmothers… and our mothers…
did not always move through their lives with confidence, ease, and grace. And yet… from the outside looking in, you might never have known.
And now… here they are, these Hats of my past that I remember so well, placed into my hands. Not just as objects, but as a kind of sacred passing.
As if to say: Here you go…these are yours now. Wear them wisely. Wear them beautifully.
Wear them in the way only you can.
And as I imagine passing these hats down to my granddaughter—who already finds such joy in fashion and self-expression—I can’t help but wonder…
what roles will be hers to carry, and what her hats will look like as she grows into the woman of her generation.
And I felt something shift in that moment.
Because while Hats may no longer be the height of fashion… the “hats” we wear today are entirely different. And yet, even in this evolution of time, how we are seen still does not always reflect how we feel on the inside.
It remains a delicate balance… how we choose to be seen. Yet, we have found Voice where there was once Silence. Choice where there was once Limitation. Confidence where there was once Fear.
We are not separate from the women who came before us…We are extensions of them. Refined, Awakened, Continuing the work, in new ways.
And just like the message that has been moving through this week… We are not meant to step into all of these roles at once. We are not meant to carry everything, all at the same time. We are meant to grow into them. To try them on. To shape them into something that feels true for who we are now.
Because even in this evolution…the rhythm still holds: You don’t build the whole vision at once.
You build the next right step.
And perhaps…You don’t wear all the hats at once, either.
So today, I invite you to reflect… What are the roles you’ve inherited? Which ones still fit? Which ones are asking to be redefined… or released? And which ones are waiting patiently…for you to step into them, in your own time?
There is no rush. There is only the unfolding. One step at a time, one role at a time, one becoming at a time…just as those before us showed— One Chop at a Time.
With love, and in honor of the women who came before, and the woman you are becoming…
